Every Tuesday Evening
(May thru Sept), CSA participants rendezvous dockside at the Cambridge Marina between 4:45 and 5:15 PM on Pier E to get ready for an evening of yacht racing. Typically, this consists of crew and captains matching up with several 30+ foot sailboats to participate in an exciting countdown start followed by a 3 to 5 mile course set around regular Choptank buoy marks. On the second Saturday of each month special sailing events are organized, with dockside activities starting at about 11:45 AM. On many of these days, non-sailors, family members, and children may enjoy sailing to a planned destination for a picnic or a swim. For more specific information and contacts, you should send an email to the address below.

CSA is always encouraging others to experience the enjoyment of sailing. While no previous experience is necessary, you should have a genuine interest in learning the sport and developing your skills. Men and women (21 or older), capable of moderate physical activity are always welcome. Each outing can be expected to last between 1 to 3 hours depending on the weather conditions, various courses, or destinations. Skippers will NOT depart dockside whenever conditions are unsafe, but please do not assume the weather conditions without first coming to dockside at start time. For added safety, CSA yachts communicate with each other and monitor VHS-Channel 68, at all times during activities. There is never any cost, and you will not be pressured to exceed your comfort level. Please wear soft sole shoes and avoid wearing metal. Refreshments are generally available, and most yachts are equipped with private marine toilets (heads) for your comfort, in addition to facilities available at the marina itself. You may feel free to carry-on a small bag for personal items, cell phone, etc. Just send us an e-mail to get started, leaving a message with any questions or request for more information.
We encourage you to discuss any doubts you might have about your suitability for the activity with a CSA crew before undertaking your first outing. You may also want to simply “ride along” and stay out of the way until you feel comfortable enough to fully participate. However, your objective should be to eventually learn the sport through your experience.
Experienced boat owners with sufficient crew can feel free to rendezvous with the CSA fleet at Cambridge City Marina, Pier-E or contact the fleet via VHS-Ch-68 during monitoring times. If you are a boat owner in need of crew, and/or if you are new to sailing, we recommend you contact any CSA member as far in advance of the race as possible, so you can safely and comfortably “ease into it.” Experienced Crew: (all experience levels) should rendezvous at Pier- E, Slip 17 to choose your boat in accordance with CSA crewing protocol. If you’re just not sure, you should show-up as early as you can or contact a CSA member by e-mail or phone, in advance.
